Our Mission & Vision

Picture
Sedona Meditation Center is a place to explore the extraordinary potential that exists in all of us as individuals and together as a human family.

We offer yoga for the body and brain, qigong classes, personal healing, custom retreats and self-mastery workshops & trainings designed to empower individuals with the tools to live their most authentic life.

Our motto is "We are nature, we are Tao." Put simply, Tao points to the absolute principle underlying the universe, signifying the way or code of behavior that is in harmony with nature. Tao Enlightenend LIving refers to a set of principles & practices passed down through the Korean Sun Do lineage that serve as a foundation for building health in body, mind and spirit.

At Sedona Meditation Center, our central value is the Earth, and we use the Tao to guide us in that quest.

Sedona Meditation Center was founded on the holistic worldview that the well-being of each of us is deeply connected to the well-being of all living things. Since 2001, we have offered diverse and innovative educational experiences that inspire an integrated approach to personal and social change. Sedona Meditation Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit invested in a bright future for this planet.

Ilchi Lee - Founder

Picture
Ilchi Lee is a dedicated advocate for a peaceful, sustainable world, a New York Times bestselling author, and an innovative leader in human brain potential development. A true believer in the power of each person to change themselves and the world around them, Ilchi Lee has developed many mind-body training methods, including Body & Brain Yoga and Brain Education, and has touched millions of people globally, helping them to connect with their unseen potential and develop it for the benefit of themselves, their community and the Earth.

“Ilchi” is the name Ilchi Lee chose for himself nearly 30 years ago, following a life changing spiritual experience. “Il ” means “one” and “chi ” means “finger.” “Ilchi” refers to the index finger, indicating “pointing the Way.” “The Way,” referred to as the “Tao,” is considered the essence of Oneness, the natural order of existence. Embracing the Korean Taoist tradition, known as Sundo, Ilchi Lee awakened to the universal principle that humanity is connected to the Cosmos, the Earth, and all of creation.

He began teaching for free in a park in Anyang, South Korea, first assisting a lone stroke victim, and then training large groups of people. In 1985, after five years of lessons in the park, he rented a space in Seoul that became the first Dahn “Energy” Center.

The exercises he taught gradually evolved to include a wide variety of over 360 meditative and brain enhancement techniques, which he systemized into different programs and workshops, and organized into five steps. This system of mind-body-spirit training is now known as Brain Education. It integrates ancient, millennia old, Korean philosophy and Sundo culture with applied neuroscience to teach optimal brain utilization. Beyond exercises, Brain Education offers wisdom for healthy living and the successful development of children and aging of adults.

Our History

Picture
Whether you are in Sedona for a day or want to benefit from the therapies, trainings and retreats, or if you want to follow a clear path to being a Certified Tao Master, this practice has something for you.

This is an integrated gentle mind-body training method that combines deep stretching exercises, meditative breathing techniques, energy awareness training, and a deep immersion into the study of fundamental universal principles.

The principles behind the practice and exercise originate from a 9,000 year-old traditional Korean practice for spiritual awakening and self-realization called Sun Do (Tao). Sun Do originated from the ancient Korean people in Northeast Asia. It was practiced as part of popular culture during the Dahngun era, from 2333-108 B.C., and then disappeared into the mountains where it continued to be practiced in secret by Sun Do masters for centuries.

At the foundation of this practice is self-mastery. One of the primary focuses of our practice is to create a space for you to develop a connection with yourself. Through this practice your will develop a heightened sensitivity to life-force energy, which will increasingly bring you into presence with yourself and others cultivating compassion and unconditional love.

These principles and methods have helped millions of people globally expand their true potential.
